Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy

Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is an emerging therapeutic approach that combines the use of the anesthetic medication ketamine with psychotherapy for more frequent breakthroughs and sustained improvements in symptoms.

Recent research has shown the potential benefits of treating various mental health conditions, including treatment-resistant depression, anxiety disorders, and PTSD.

I integrate Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy with other forms of trauma-therapy to help people experience more frequent breakthroughs and achieve sustained improvement in symptoms. I have partnered with the medical team at Journey Clinical to determine eligibility, prescribe the ketamine and help me monitor treatment outcomes.

The intended benefits of Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy include:

  • Rapid relief from symptoms of depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
  • Enhanced self-awareness and insight into underlying emotional issues.
  • Facilitated exploration and processing of traumatic memories.
  • Improved mood, motivation, and overall well-being.
  • Increased capacity for emotional resilience and coping skills.
  • Potential reduction in suicidal ideation and self-destructive behaviors.
  • Promotes neuroplasticity and the formation of new neural connections.

How Ketamine helps ease the symptoms of stress, anxiety, and PTSD:

  • Ketamine increases the activity of glutamate in the brain.
  • Glutamate plays an important role in mood regulation, memory and learning.
  • Glutamate also supports neuroplasticity your brain's ability to adapt and change with every new experience you have.
  • By increasing neuroplasticity, researchers believe ketamine may help "rewire" your brain, disrupting problematic or harmful thought patterns and allowing you to form new pathways. These new pathways or neural connections help you create more positive thoughts and feel more optimistic about life.

During psychedelic integration therapy, I help you process and integrate your psychedelic experiences into your daily life. Integration involves making sense of the insights, emotions, and visions that emerged during the experience and applying them to personal growth and transformation. This is also a safe space to explore and address any challenges or difficulties that surfaced during the psychedelic journey.
