INDIVIDUAL Therapy

Sometimes you just need a space that's just yours. Not a group, not a course, not a self-help book. A real, ongoing therapeutic relationship with someone who knows your history, understands how you think, and can meet you exactly where you are.

That's what individual therapy offers — and it's the foundation of everything I do.

What Individual Therapy Is

Individual therapy, also called individual counseling or one-on-one therapy, is a private, confidential relationship between you and a licensed therapist. Sessions are typically 50 minutes, held weekly or biweekly, and structured around your specific goals, patterns, and experiences.

Unlike group therapy or coaching, individual therapy gives you undivided attention and a therapeutic approach tailored entirely to you — your unique nervous system, history, and pace.

What We Work On Together

People come to individual therapy for many different reasons. Some arrive with a clear sense of what they want to address. Others come knowing something isn't working but aren’t quite sure what to do about it.

Common reasons women seek individual therapy include:

  • Anxiety and chronic stress

  • Trauma and PTSD

  • Burnout and emotional exhaustion

  • Life transitions

  • Low self-esteem and self-doubt

  • Relationship patterns

  • Imposter syndrome and performance anxiety

My Approach to Individual Therapy

My work is body-based and nervous system-informed. This means I don't just ask how you think about your experiences, I pay attention to what your body is doing while you're talking about them. When your breath changes, where the tension lives, what your body is communicating underneath the verbal story.

The primary modalities I often refer to and use in individual therapy include:

  • EMDR therapy — for processing specific memories, beliefs, and experiences stored in the nervous system that haven't responded to insight or talk alone. Learn more about EMDR therapy →

  • Somatic therapy — body-centered work that builds regulation capacity, and helps the body release what it's been holding. Learn more about somatic therapy →

  • Nervous system regulation — including the Rest and Restore Protocol, a music-based listening intervention that supports regulation between sessions.

For clients navigating treatment-resistant depression, deep stuck patterns, or experiences that haven't responded to conventional therapy, I also offer ketamine-assisted psychotherapy in collaboration with a licensed prescribing provider.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is individual therapy? Individual therapy is a one-on-one, confidential therapeutic relationship between a client and a licensed therapist. Sessions typically run 50 minutes and are focused on the client's specific goals, history, and needs.

What's the difference between individual therapy and counseling? The terms are often used interchangeably. "Individual counseling" and "individual therapy" refer to the same service — private, one-on-one sessions with a licensed mental health professional.

How do I know if individual therapy is right for me? If something in your life or in yourself feels stuck, painful, or like it isn't working — and you want more than a book or a quick fix — individual therapy is likely a good fit. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit.

How long does individual therapy take? It depends on what you're working on. Some people find meaningful change in a few months. Others work over a longer period, especially when addressing complex trauma or deeply ingrained patterns. We discuss realistic expectations during your consultation.

Do you accept insurance? Insurance is accepted for virtual therapy sessions through a third-party billing provider. In-person sessions in Carmel are private pay. A superbill is available for out-of-network reimbursement. Please reach out to confirm current insurance acceptance before booking.
