somatic Therapy

woman sitting in Carmel, California feeling regulated and relaxed after doing somatic therapy with somatic therapist.

Somatic therapy for the woman who lives in her head and crashes in her body.

If you're creative, driven, and wired a little fast, you probably live mostly from the neck up — thinking, planning, pushing — until your body finally forces a stop.

The burnout, the shutdown, the anxiety that no amount of insight seems to touch: that's not in your thoughts, and you can't think your way out of a body that's stuck in survival mode.

WHAT SOMATIC

Somatic therapy works with the body, not just the mind. Instead of only talking about what happened, we pay attention to how your body is holding it — the tension, the bracing, the numbness, the buzz that won't quiet down. By working directly with your nervous system, we help it move out of chronic fight-flight-freeze and back into a state where you feel safe, settled, and like yourself again.

In sessions, I’m tracking the story your body is telling alongside the one your mind is — shifts in breath, posture, and energy, moments of activation or shutdown. We slow down enough to feel what's there, gently, and give your system what it needs to finish carrying the stress it's been holding. Over time your baseline changes: regulation stops being something you force and becomes something you have.
